John M. Dodig is an experienced trial attorney representing plaintiffs in various types of complex litigation, including medical negligence, product liability, construction accidents, consumer class actions, motor vehicle accidents and civil rights claims. Atty. John Dodig has successfully obtained multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements in several cases, including a $20,000,000 birth injury claim involving a brain-damaged child, a $13,275,000.00 recovery for a worker injured in a construction accident and a $11,000,000.00 recovery for an individual injured in a motor vehicle accident. Mr. Dodig regularly handles personal injury matters in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as several other states.

Mr. Dodig received his Bachelor of Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and his law degree from Nova University. He also received an LLM in Trial Advocacy from Temple University.

Mr. Dodig was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association in 2006 and 2007. He is a frequent lecturer in courses designed to teach practicing lawyers practical skills, such as trial advocacy. He has also served on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association.

Attorney Dodig was born in Saugerties, New York. Atty. Dodig spends considerable time in both Harrisburg and Washington, participating in efforts to defeat tort reform and preserve the rights of innocent victims to be compensated for their losses. In June of 2004, Mr. Dodig was awarded the President’s Award by the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, in recognition of his work protecting the rights of innocent victims and maintaining their access to the court system.

In a landmark decision, John Dodig successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania that municipalities should be held responsible if police are negligent during high-speed police chases. Jones v. City of Philadelphia. 700 A.2d 417 (Pa. 1997). Mr. Dodig has successfully handled numerous automobile accident cases involving high-speed police chases that have resulted in serious injuries and death. Mr. Dodig is often consulted by other automobile accident attorneys in Philadelphia because of his expertise in this area of the law, and is regularly asked to represent clients on a referral basis. Mr. Dodig has lectured to automobile accident attorneys on the topic of police pursuits and governmental and municipal liability. He has also been contacted by the Philadelphia Daily News, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Magazine, the Legal Intelligencer and the Pennsylvania Law Weekly for expert opinion and analysis in this area of the law.

Recognized for four consecutive years by Philadelphia Magazine as a “Super Lawyer” in Pennsylvania, including recognition as one of the top 100 “Super Lawyers” in Pennsylvania in 2008.

Mr. Dodig's recent successes include:

$13,275,000.00 Settlement for Construction Accident Injuries. August, 2008.

In August, 2008, Feldman Shepherd attorneys, John M. Dodig, Esquire and Jason A. Daria, Esquire, obtained a $13,275,000.00 settlement for Jose Alves, a thirty-three (33) year old carpenter who fell at an office building construction site in Lionville, Chester County, on February 15, 2005. Mr. Alves was injured after a roof truss he was installing broke causing him to fall fourteen (14) feet. A lawsuit was filed against eight (8) Defendants, including the general contractor, carpentry contractor, crane company, safety company, truss manufacturer, installation drawing designer and distributer of the truss. These companies contributed to a global settlement of $13,275,000.00. With the compromise of the worker’s compensation lien, the total recovery to Mr. Alves will exceed $15,000,000.00. The settlement monies will be used to provide care to Mr. Alves for the rest of his life. $11,000,000.00 settlement for injuries in a motor vehicle accident. January, 2008.

In January, 2008, Feldman Shepherd attorneys, John M. Dodig, Esquire and Jason A. Daria, Esquire, were successful in obtaining a $11,000,000.00 settlement for an individual injured in a motor vehicle accident. The automobile accident occurred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and resulted in significant injuries to their client, including paraplegia. The settlement monies will be used to care for the client for the remainder of his life expectancy.

$4,000,000.00 Settlement for head injury to eleven (11) year old caused in a motor vehicle accident in a New Jersey showroom.

$5,010,000.00 Verdict in Nursing Negligence Case.

$1,250,000.00 Settlement for Cervical Fusion Caused as a Result of a Motor Vehicle Accident..

$750,000.00 Verdict in a Motor Vehicle Accident Case.

$4,500,000.00 settlement in pediatric negligence claim.

In November, 2002, on the eve of trial, Feldman Shepherd attorney, John M. Dodig, Esquire, settled a case for $4,500,000.00 on behalf of a child who suffered brain damage as a result of negligence which occurred within two weeks of the child’s birth. The physicians caring for the minor child failed to timely diagnose meningitis which resulted in life-long injuries for the minor child. The Settlement Agreement was reached prior to selecting a jury. The child’s life-long medical and other care needs will be paid for by the settlement.

$2,550,000.00 settlement as a result of a New Jersey motor vehicle accident resulting in the development of RSD.

In April of 2008, after Mediation in Camden, New Jersey, Feldman Shepherd attorneys, John M. Dodig, Esquire and Jason A. Daria, Esquire, were successful in obtaining a $2,550,000.00 settlement for Tara Bednar. Ms. Bednar was injured in a motor vehicle accident on April 19, 2005 in Hammonton, New Jersey. Ms. Bednar’s vehicle was struck by a vehicle owned by Harold Heritage Wholesale whose driver negligently made a left hand turn in front of Ms. Bednar’s vehicle resulting in a collision. As a result of the crash, Ms. Bednar sustained a fracture to her right wrist which later developed into RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) causing pain on a daily basis. As a result of Ms. Bednar’s injury, she was forced to undergo extensive physical therapy which ultimately resulted in the implementation of a spinal cord stimulator to control her pain. The settlement was reached after a lengthy Mediation which took place over several days.

John M. Dodig was named by Philadelphia Magazine as a 2008 Top 100 Super Lawyer in the State of Pennsylvania.
