$16.05 Million Settlement Of Massachusetts Birth Injury Case
Feldman Shepherd attorneys Daniel S. Weinstock and G. Scott Vezina obtained a $16.05 million settlement on behalf of a family whose baby suffered severe brain damage at birth following a placental abruption. Due to negligence on the part of the obstetrician at the defendant-hospital, the child was not timely delivered. Further, as a result of the child’s condition as well as a miscommunication between healthcare providers, the neonatology team failed to adequately and properly institute resuscitation procedures.
$10 Million Settlement Of Arizona Birth Injury Case
Attorneys Daniel S. Weinstock and G. Scott Vezina obtained a $10 million settlement on behalf of the family whose son suffered severe brain damage as a result of a defendant-hospital’s failure to timely treat the child’s non-reassuring fetal heart rate tracings that resulted in a significant injury to the basal ganglia part of his brain. At birth he was diagnosed with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and has developed cerebral palsy.
Confidential Multi-Million-Dollar Settlement for Passenger Car Roof Crush, Causing Quadriplegia
A mullti-million dollar confidential settlement in a roof crush case was obtained by Feldman Shepherd attorneys Alan M. Feldman, Daniel J. Mann and Edward S. Goldis. The plaintiff, an 18-year-old high school student, was a rear seat-belted occupant of a passenger car operated by his friend. While speeding and attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway, his friend lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line of the roadway and forcefully struck an oncoming SUV. As a result of the collision, the car left the roadway, climbed an adjacent embankment and rolled over several times before coming to rest on its wheels after re-entering the road. The plaintiff was rendered quadriplegic.
Feldman Shepherd Attorneys Retained In Tragic Park-To-Reverse Death
Feldman Shepherd attorneys were recently retained by the family of a young woman, who was tragically killed when her minivan began to roll backwards while the vehicle was in park. LJ had exited the van to go to the rear to unload some groceries, placing the vehicle in park, when the vehicle began to roll backwards. She attempted to reach into the vehicle to grab the steering wheel, when she went underneath the minivan, suffering fatal injuries. Two of her daughters were in the minivan and witnessed the accident. Feldman Shepherd attorneys Alan M. Feldman, Daniel J. Mann and Edward S. Goldis moved quickly to secure the vehicle, and will be filing suit against the vehicle manufacturer.
Roberta D. Pichini to be Honored with 2014 Justice Musmanno Award
Feldman Shepherd attorney Roberta D. Pichini will be honored with the 2014 Justice Musmanno Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. Pichini will be presented with the award at the annual Justice Musmanno Award Dinner on Oct. 22, 2014 at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. The Musmanno Award is given each year to an outstanding judge, lawyer or citizen who represents the spirit and ideals of the late Justice Michael A. Musmanno of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. A lawyer, speaker, statesman, and legislator, Justice Musmanno never stood aside complacently when he believed that cruelty and injustice were being inflicted.

Alan M. Feldman and Maureen Pelta Receive 2014 JSPAN Social Justice Award
Alan M. Feldman, and wife Maureen Pelta, Ph.D., received theJewish Social Policy Action Network’s 2014 Social Justice Award. Dr. Pelta, Chair of Liberal Arts and professor of art history and curatorial studies at Moore College of Art and Design, has contributed her expertise for many decades as volunteer chair of the annual Mordechai Anielewicz Creative Arts Competition. The competition encourages middle and high school students to study the Holocaust and use creative expression to reflect.
Feldman, Founder and Co-Managing partner of Feldman Shepherd, is a former chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and an ardent supporter of the Philadelphia legal services community. During his tenure as chancellor in 2006, he introduced the “Raising the Bar” campaign which continues to raise substantial funds to help provide access to justice through free legal services to the underserved in the community.
