$14 Million Settlement for 68-Year-Old Man Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident

In July 2015, attorneys John M. Dodig and Jason A. Daria obtained a $14 million settlement for a 68-year-old New Jersey man who was killed when the vehicle he was operating was struck by a tractor-trailer. As a result of the crash, the decedent died instantly or within minutes of the crash. Once litigation commenced, Dodig and Daria were successful in uncovering corporate acts of reckless and negligent conduct that exposed the corporate defendant to a potential punitive damage jury verdict. Based on the age of the decedent, it is believed that the settlement amount is one of the largest obtained in a trucking accident case involving the near instantaneous death of a single individual. The settlement monies will be used to compensate the decedent’s widow, their two children, and multiple grandchildren for their tragic loss of their husband, father, and grandfather.
