Attorneys Daniel S. Weinstock and G. Scott Vezina are investigating an Aug. 19, 2019, aviation accident in which a college senior who aspired to become a commercial pilot was seriously injured when he deployed the parachute of his rented aircraft before it went down nose first into a heavily wooded, swampy area in Tappahannock, Virginia.
The plane, a Cirrus SR22, crashed at approximately 3:43 a.m. on the outskirts of the Tappahannock-Essex County Airport. Prior to the crash, the 25-year-old pilot reported to air traffic controllers that smoke was filling the cockpit.
The pilot had approximately 200 flying hours of experience and was working toward his instrument rating as well as his commercial rating.
It took approximately six hours for rescue workers to find the wreckage via helicopter and carve a path through the dense terrain to get to and extricate the pilot.

The National Transportation Safety Board also is investigating the crash.
