Feldman Shepherd Attorneys Participate in 39th Annual American Cancer Society Bike-a-thon

August 8, 2011

Philadelphia personal injury attorneys Thomas Martin and Patricia M. Giordano of Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig LLP participated in the 39th Annual American Cancer Society Bike-a-thon fundraiser on July 10, 2011.

“It is reported that so far this year, cancer has taken the lives of more than 28,500 individuals in Pennsylvania alone,” said Giordano. “At Feldman Shepherd, our corporate culture embraces participation in nonprofit fundraising events and the overall support of organizations like the American Cancer Society in its battle to eliminate cancer.”

The Bike-a-thon is the largest single-day American Cancer Society fundraiser in Pennsylvania. Each year, the 61-mile-long race begins at the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia and concludes with a celebratory picnic in Buena, N.J. This year, more than 4,500 cancer survivors, family and friends took part in the event with the goal of raising $1.5 million for cancer research. To date, approximately $1.3 million has been raised to help save lives and celebrate more birthdays.

Feldman Shepherd and its trial attorneys are committed to providing legal support to the community. Both lawyers and staff members give to philanthropic endeavors. Feldman Shepherd donates $1,000 per year per attorney to legal services such as Philadelphia VIP, Community Legal Services of Philadelphia, Senior Law Center, Support Center for Child Advocates and others. The firm participates in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Bike MS: City to Shore Ride fundraiser. The Feldman Shepherd staff also raises money and gift donations each year for families that are much less fortunate. They contribute one percent of all cerebral palsy case settlements and verdicts to a fund that sends families of children with cerebral palsy to Disney World. The firm has sent six families to Disney to date and anticipates sending many more.
