Alan M. Feldman and Maureen Pelta to Receive 2014 JSPAN Social Justice Award

Alan M. Feldman and wife Maureen Pelta, Ph.D., will receive the Jewish Social Policy Action Network’s 2014 Social Justice Award.

Chair of Liberal Arts and professor of art history and curatorial studies at Moore College of Art and Design, Dr. Pelta has contributed her expertise for many decades as volunteer chair of the annual Mordechai Anielewicz Creative Arts Competition.

Sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, the competition encourages middle and high school students to study the Holocaust and use creative expression to reflect.

Feldman, a Co-Managing partner of Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig LLP, is a former chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and a longtime supporter of the city’s legal services providers.

During his tenure as Chancellor in 2006, he introduced the “Raising the Bar” campaign, which continues to raise substantial funds to help provide access to justice through free legal services to the community’s underserved populations.

The award will be presented at the Jewish Social Policy Action Network’s 10th annual Social Justice Award Reception on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014. The event will be held at the Independence Visitor Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.jspan.org or email jspan@jspan.org.
