Feldman Shepherd Attorney Alan Feldman Appointed to PA IOLTA Board

December 2, 2013

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has appointed Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig LLP Co-Managing Partner Alan M. Feldman to the Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) board. A personal injury attorney, Feldman will serve a three-year term on the nine-member board.

Pennsylvania IOLTA enables lawyers to raise millions of dollars for the provision of legal services to the poor and disadvantaged. Similar to IOLTA programs in every state, the money comes from lawyer trust accounts established for the benefit of clients depending on the amount of funds the client needs held. The IOLTA board distributes funds earned on the interest from those accounts to support legal aid, legal education for the public, and other activities that improve the quality of justice.

“Organizations that fund or offer legal services are in great need of funding,” said Alan M. Feldman. “It is our duty as lawyers to ensure that all people have equal access to justice. Serving on the IOLTA board gives me the platform to continue to assist Pennsylvanians in need of legal education and aid.”

For more than 30 years, Feldman has served the interests of plaintiffs, winning substantial verdicts and settlements in personal injury and class action matters. During the course of Feldman’s career, he has always dedicated time and talent to organizations that provide access to justice to those in need. Most recently, Feldman facilitated a $4 million cy pres donation to legal services in Pennsylvania. Community Legal Services of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts each received $2 million to fund their efforts. The money was left over from the proceeds of a class action in which Feldman served as lead attorney.

A certified Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, Feldman has been named among the Best Lawyers in America® for his work on behalf of plaintiffs in mass tort litigation / class actions and personal injury litigation. He has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Top 10 Pennsylvania and Top 10 Philadelphia personal injury attorney. Feldman served as a chancellor of the 13,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association and president of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. Winner of the 2007 Community Legal Services Equal Justice Award, Feldman belongs to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Academy of Advocacy.
