$1.85M Settlement in Shoulder Dystocia Case

Attorneys John M. Dodig and Jason A. Daria secured a $1.85 million settlement in New Jersey for a child who sustained a right brachial plexus injury as a result of a doctor’s failure to properly manage a shoulder dystocia during childbirth.

The injury occurred when the doctor applied excessive traction to the baby’s head and neck to free his right shoulder when it got stuck behind the mother’s pubic bone during delivery. As a result, the child suffered severe nerve root avulsion. His right arm is permanently deformed, and he has minimal use of it.

This settlement will assist this child with future medical, educational, and vocational needs, as they arise.
