$14 Million Settlement for a 37-Year-Old Woman Who Was Rendered Quadriplegic During an Epidural Steroid Injection

Attorneys Mark W. Tanner and Peter M. Newman secured a settlement of $14 Million for a 37-year-old woman who was rendered quadriplegic during an epidural steroid injection at the C5-C6 level of her cervical spine. The client, a single mother of two minor children, worked up until the day of the epidural injection, which was intended to treat a disc osteophyte complex that was causing cervical radiculopathy. Attorneys Tanner and Newman assembled a team of experts that included a neuroradiologist, an anesthesiologist, the Chief of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at a local hospital, a life care planner and an economist. The settlement has enabled the client, now a C4 Asia-C quadriplegic, to purchase an accessible home where she can live with her children and other family members, and where she can receive the medical and nursing care she requires, avoiding placement in a long-term care facility.
