Cessna 402B Crashes in Nassau, Bahamas

Beginning in 2001, attorney G. Scott Vezina represented the universal claim of the victims of the fatal Cessna 402B accident in Nassau, Bahamas, which claimed the lives of recording artist Aaliyah Haughton and eight others on board. On the evening of August 25th, 2001, Aaliyah and her entourage boarded the twin-engine Cessna at the Marsh Harbor Airport on Abaco Island. Shortly after takeoff, and about 200 feet from the runway, the aircraft crashed and was engulfed by flames, claiming the lives of all passengers and the pilot.

Attorney Vezina’s main focus was the destructive and metallurgical testing at Mcknight Professional Engineering Services in Pensacola, Florida wherein the remains of the aircraft, which had been crated by section, were unwrapped and tested. Ultimately the case resolved for a confidential sum after extensive depositions of all engineers, an accident reconstructionist, and fact witnesses.
