Feldman Shepherd Personal Injury Attorneys Carol Nelson Shepherd and Mark W. Tanner Present at Pennsylvania Association for Justice Medical Malpractice Seminar

December 14, 2011 Philadelphia trial lawyers Carol Nelson Shepherd and Mark W. Tanner ofFeldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig LLP, recently served as faculty of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (PAJ) 6th Annual Full Day Medical Malpractice Seminar. Shepherd was the course moderator and addressed the medical malpractice topics “Electronic Medical Records” and “Disturbing New Trends in Medicine — Effect on Medical Malpractice Cases.” Tanner presented on “Hi-Tech Depositions and Their Use at Trial.” Both attorneys were given top seminar evaluation ratings by audience members for their roles in the full day program.

“My colleagues and I are always pleased to address developments and issues of concern relating to medical malpractice matters,” said Shepherd, a co-founding partner of Feldman Shepherd and past president of PAJ. “Continuing education is a critical component of sound lawyering, and we believe strongly in furthering ourselves and our profession through participation in educational programming.”

“Technology continues to change both the practice of law and the presentation of evidence at trial,” stated Tanner, who sits on the PAJ Board of Governors and serves as a Feldman Shepherd Co-Managing Partner. “It was a privilege to address the intersection of the digital landscape and the law for the PAJ program attendees.”

Shepherd devotes her practice to catastrophic injury claims arising from medical negligence, including claims against health care providers in obstetric / childbirth injury matters, delayed diagnosis of cancer, surgical malpractice and many other cases involving substandard medical care. She is a frequent author and lecturer regarding medical malpractice, and has held prominent leadership positions in the regional and national legal communities, including the Pennsylvania and American Associations for Justice, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. A member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and The National Trial Lawyers, Top 100 Trial Lawyers, Shepherd is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America. From 2004 through 2011, she was named among the Top 50 Women Super Lawyers® in Pennsylvania, Top 100 Super Lawyers® in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, and as a Pennsylvania Medical Malpractice Super Lawyer® by Thomson Reuters, published annually in Philadelphia magazine.

Tanner is an accomplished trial attorney with a wide ranging practice in complex litigation. In addition to securing one of the largest medical malpractice verdicts in the courts of Pennsylvania, he has also secured what is believed to be the largest jury verdict in the state in a bad faith case against an insurance company. His practice includes medical negligence, disability insurance claims, insurance bad faith, product liability and class action litigation. A sought-after lecturer, he often serves as a faculty member in programs devoted to the development of trial advocacy skills, and teaches at Temple University’s Academy of Advocacy. In 2006, he became one of the youngest attorneys ever invited to become a Fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Trial Attorneys. He has also been selected for membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates and is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Tanner has been recognized for five consecutive years by Thomson Reuters, published annually in Philadelphia magazine, as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers® in Pennsylvania. He was also named among the Top 10 Super Lawyers® in Pennsylvania in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, when the magazine featured an article about him.
